Cyclone bowlers place third, fifth at Red Oak

 RED OAK (Jan. 9) -- The Harlan Community boys placed third out of five teams while the Cyclone girls took fifth at last Tuesday’s Red Oak Bowling Tournament at Red Oak Lanes.
 Competition was fierce on the boys side of the meet as Lewis Central edged Shenandoah by 69 pins for the title, 2,796 to 2,727. HCHS tallied a 2,570 for third, followed by Red Oak (2,404) and Creston (2,362).
 Lewis Central also won the girls team title with a score of 2,145, followed by Red Oak (2,143), Shenandoah (2,093), Creston (2,004) and HCHS (1,976).
 Five out of six Cyclone boys averaged at least a 160 for their two-game individual round, led by Darren Stein’s 369 (168-201). Devin Wilson finished with a 365 (177-188), Bailey Schmitz (201-160) and Keaton Jones (188-173) both rolled 361 and Bryan Hanson had a 320 (163-157).
 For the Cyclone girls, Kenzie Jones paced the squad with a 355 (186-169) and Abby Swank had a 301 (140-161). HCHS also counted Jaden Gessert’s 273, Emma Barnes’ 206 and Lexus Brown’s 189.
