Chamberlain, Harris named third-team All-State

DES MOINES (March 13) -- Harlan Community senior Shane Chamberlain and AHSTW senior R.J. Harris were both named third-team All-State this week by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association.
The IPSWA announced its inaugural boys basketball all-state teams on Tuesday, honoring the top 24 high school players in each class and also selecting Muscatine senior Joe Wieskamp as the 2018 Mr. Basketball.
Chamberlain was named to the Class 3A third team after leading HCHS to a 15-8 overall record and a trip to the substate finals, where the Cyclones lost to eventual 3A state champion Glenwood.
A versatile 6-foot-4 wing player, Chamberlain averaged a team-high 18.6 points per game, grabbed 6.1 rebounds per contest and led the squad with 37 steals and 58 made 3-pointers while adding 57 assists.
Harris is a repeat third-team All-State selection in Class 2A following an outstanding four-year varsity career that saw him total a school record 1,430 points, 536 rebounds, 245 assists, 177 steals and 162 made three-pointers.
Capable of playing almost any position on the floor, the 6-foot-3 Harris helped the Vikings win 60 games over the last four years, including a terrific 21-3 junior season that ended with a substate final appearance. AHSTW went 16-7 this past season as Harris led the way with 15.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, 45 steals and 29 made threes.
