Bruck qualifies for state swim meet in three events with LC

 INDIANOLA (Oct. 28) -- Competing for the Lewis Central swim team, Harlan Community senior Abby Bruck qualified for state in three relay events last Saturday as the Titan girls placed second as a team in the Indianola regional meet. Abby is the daughter of Matt and Michelle Bruck, Harlan, and has been a member of the LC swim team for four years.
 Bruck will be competing in the State Swimming & Diving Meet this weekend (November 3-4) at the Marshalltown YMCA/YWCA. Her events will include the 200-yard medley relay, the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay. The Titans placed third in all three events at the regional meet, with Bruck anchoring the medley with a 50 free leg in 24.9 seconds. The medley relay team broke a school record, meaning Bruck will have her name posted on the school’s record board.
 Individually, Bruck narrowly missed qualifying for state in the 100 freestyle, placing fourth with a personal-best time of 55.13. Her time was just 0.32 seconds away from qualifying for state.
