Boys Tennis: HCHS splits pair of exciting home duals

HARLAN -- Harlan Community won two out of three doubles matches to outlast Shenandoah, 5-4, in boys tennis action here Thursday, improving its dual record to 5-4 with three regular-season meets remaining.
Two days after losing a 5-4 heartbreaker to Glenwood, the Cyclones split their six varsity singles matches with the Mustangs before taking care of business in doubles play. The combo of Isaac Stitz and Alec Plagman dominated their No. 1 doubles match for a 10-3 victory while the No. 2 team of Josh Cheek and Caleb Rasmussen wrapped up the dual win with a convincing 10-4 decision.
Singles’ winners for HCHS included Plagman in the No. 2 spot, Rasmussen (No. 5) and Jonathan Cheek (No. 6).
“This was a great win against a good team,” said HCHS coach Chad Bruns. “After losing 4-5 to Glenwood earlier this week, it was great to win this one. Close meets, whether you win or lose, are just fun to coach, watch and play in. They also build important experience when you find yourself in a close match.”
