Boys District Basketball: Vikings, Spartans, Wolves in same pod

 AREA -- The AHSTW, Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton and IKM-Manning boys basketball teams will each be bracketed in Class 1A, Substate 8 when postseason play begins next month.
 The Iowa High School Athletic Association released its boys basketball district pods January 18 for Class 1A and 2A teams. AHSTW (8-8) and Exira-EHK (13-2) will compete in District 15 while IKM-Manning (10-5) is part of District 16. The actual district brackets will be released by the IHSAA following the coaches’ seeding meetings the last week of January.
 At first glance, Class 1A, Substate 8 appears formidable, led by a pair of state-ranked teams in No. 7 Ar-We-Va (15-0) in District 15 and No. 9 Sioux Central (13-1) in District 16. In addition, Exira-EHK is receiving votes in the Associated Press poll and is just two spots shy of the top 10. Its only two losses have come against Ar-We-Va in close games.

Boys Basketball District Assignments - CLASS 1A, SUBSTATE 8

District 15: AHSTW, Ar-We-Va, Audubon, Boyer Valley, Exira-EHK, Logan-Magnolia, West Harrison, West Monona, Woodbine.

District 16: Glidden-Ralston, IKM-Manning, Newell-Fonda, Paton-Churdan, Ridge View, River Valley, Sioux Central, Storm Lake St. Mary’s, WB-Mallard.
