Baseball: Spartans roll past Bulldogs, 12-4

 ELK HORN (June 6) -- Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton responded to a 3-0 deficit in the top of the first by scoring six runs in the bottom of the inning and went on to beat Boyer Valley 12-4 in Rolling Valley Conference baseball action Thursday night.
 Spartan senior Trey Nelson (1-0) adjusted well after a rocky start on the mound, putting up zeros during his final five innings. He allowed six total hits and two earned runs, walked two and struck out nine.
 Offensively, Exira-EHK scored in each of the first five innings and totaled 10 hits, six walks and six stolen bases. Dane Paulsen (one double), Burmeister and Tyler Petersen all had two-hit games and Nelson, Josh Pettepier, Trey Petersen and Dawson Carey added singles.
 The Spartans improved to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the RVC but did lose to West Harrison 11-8 on Saturday as the Hawkeyes rallied with seven runs in the top of the seventh.
