Baseball: Cyclones top DC-G 5-3 for 25th win

 HARLAN -- Playing its first full game in nearly a week, Harlan Community scored four first-inning runs and held off Dallas Center-Grimes 5-3 here Wednesday night (July 5) in non-conference baseball action.
 The No. 2-ranked (3-A) Cyclones improved to 25-2 overall going into Thursday’s makeup game vs. Glenwood while the Mustangs fell to 9-18.
 Harlan’s four-run first included just one hit and was set up by a two-out error (dropped fly ball) in left field. Joshua Cheek’s RBI double drove in the first run and three straight walks and another error led to a 4-0 score.
 HCHS, which had just six hits, went up 5-1 in the third when Nick Foss tripled and scored on an error.
 Cheek (5-1) went all seven innings on the mound and pitched a complete game nine-hitter on 87 pitches. He walked two batters and struck out three.
