Baseball: Cyclones handle St. Albert 8-1

 HARLAN -- Brett Sears hit his first varsity home run and pitched six strong innings on the mound here Monday night (June 12) as the Harlan Community baseball team defeated St. Albert 8-1.
 Sears finished 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, two runs and two RBI - the home run coming against hard-throwing left-hander Garret Reisz. Sears (4-0) allowed a run in the first inning but went unscathed the rest of the way, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out six.
 The top-ranked Cyclones (14-0, 11-0 Hawkeye Ten) scored three runs in the first inning and added three in the sixth off reliever Ben VanSoelen. St. Albert dropped to 11-6 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
