Area teams set for playoffs

 AREA -- The AHSTW and Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton football teams will host first-round playoff games Wednesday night while IKM-Manning will open its playoff journey on the road following the release of the Iowa high school playoff pairings late Friday night.
 AHSTW (6-3) finished the regular season with a dominating 85-0, Week 9 win over West Monona/Whiting on Friday, earning second place in Class 1-A, District 1 with a 4-2 record. The Vikings will host Ridge View (7-2) on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
 Exira-EHK (8-1) prepped for the playoffs with a 52-6 win at Kingsley-Pierson and also placed second in its district with a mark of 6-1. The Spartans will host East Mills (7-2) in 8-Player action Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
 IKM-Manning, meanwhile, slipped to the third-place seed in Class 1-A, District 1 after losing to unbeaten Underwood 28-6 on Friday. The Wolves finished the regular season at 6-3 overall and 4-2 in district play, but lost the head-to-head tiebreaker with AHSTW for second place. They will travel to Pocahontas Area (7-2) for Wednesday’s playoff opener at 7:00 p.m.
