1A District Baseball: Spartans bow out to CAM in first round

 ANITA -- The Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton baseball team lost to CAM 7-2 in a Class 1A district quarterfinal game July 13 and finished the season 10-12 overall.
 The Spartans scored two runs in the top of the first but the host Cougars answered with four in the bottom of the inning and scored three insurance runs in the fifth.
 Exira-EHK senior Josh Pettepier took the loss, allowing seven hits and four earned runs in a complete game effort. He walked one and struck out seven.
 The Spartans totaled five hits against CAM pitchers Cade Ticknor and Joe Kauffman. Trey Nelson went 2-for-3 while Cole Burmeister, Anthony Kingery and Pettepier all added singles. Exira-EHK seniors included Burmeister, Kingery, Nelson, Pettepier and Dawson Carey.
