Sherry Hansen, 73

HARLAN -- Sherry Hansen, 73, Harlan, died September 1 at Methodist Hospital.
Services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton with burial in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Kimballton.  Visitation was held Monday, Sept. 5 from 2-8 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. that evening.
Sherry was the Harlan Newspapers’ front office manager and receptionist for more than 23 years.
One of her favorite duties was the cooking column she suggested, and then wrote, for the papers.
The success of that column led to the cookbook of the same What’s Cookin’ name as her column. What’s Cookin’ was published by the Newspapers in 2015 and is dedicated to her and her work.   It features three years of her columns, area cooks and their recipes.  Still a favorite, the book is still available.
Hansen is survived by her husband, Jerry Hansen, of Harlan; daughters Deb (Kevin) Harris of Blair, NE, Betty Hansen of Windsor Heights and Darli Jo (Bob) Vrba of Schuyler, NE; son Jim (Angie) Hansen of Harlan; brother Dallas (Donna) Berry of Owatonna, MN; son-in-law Steve Cockerham of Altoona; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
