James Hansen, 71

WAGONER, OK  ––  James Leo Hansen, the son of Orville A. (Herk) and Irene Bieker Hansen, was born June 2, 1944, in Harlan. He attended school in Harlan, graduating with the Harlan High School class of 1962.
Jim served in the United States Army, spent several years working for Wells Blue Bunny, and 30 years working for the City of Harlan.
June 22, 1966, Jim married Sandra Sawyer, and they made their home in Harlan. He retired in 2006, and he and Sandy moved to Wagoner, OK, where he loved living near the lake so he could fish any time he wanted to.
Jim will be remembered for his love for his family and friends. He was very pleased to have a 4-generation Hansen picture taken with his 6-day-old great-grandson the week before he died. He also loved our country and was a patriot. All who knew Jim will miss his sense of humor. Jim died at his home in Wagoner, OK on February 11, 2016 at age 71.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents; his nephew, Trevor Erickson; and his brothers-in-law, John Anastasi and Jim Sparks. He is survived by his wife, Sandra of Wagoner, OK; his daughter, Sherry Hansen of Wagoner, OK; sons, Jeff (Karen) Hansen of Wagoner, OK and Mark (Kim) Hansen of Harlan; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters, Lesly (Eldon) Erickson of Harlan and Lynn Sparks of West Des Moines; and many other relatives and friends.
A private family committal service was held the following week.
