Public health funding increase approved

HARLAN -- The Myrtue Medical Center Board of Trustees voted to approve a proposal for a new funding agreement increase with Shelby County for public health services.
MMC CEO Barry Jacobsen stated in the current three year period, MMC has been receiving $100,000 per year from the county. MMC is in the final year in a three-year contract with Shelby County for public health funding, which ends June 30, 2016.
“Public health services is the responsibility of the county. Right now they contract that responsibility out to the hospital. Over the years there have been various levels of funding each year,” said Jacobsen.
