Next year’s school end set in stone: It’s May 23

HCS students still going into June this year; Supt. Wagner says not changing it --

HARLAN – The last day of school for students in the Harlan Community Schools next year will be May 23, regardless of whether or not snow days or other activities cause cancelled school days throughout the year.
Those words come from district officials who approved the calendar last week.  The HCS Board of Education passed the calendar 4-0 Monday, April 11.  Board members Al Hazelton, Lonnie Muxfeldt, Amy Rueschenberg and Angie Monson voted in favor.  Board members Kathy Mahlberg, Joni Larsen and Monte Schechinger were absent.
The calendar approval came following months of discussion, including meetings by a calendar committee and input from the community and staff.
