Mayor addresses open meetings, records questions

    HARLAN – Harlan Mayor Gene Gettys, Jr. took the time at Tuesday’s Harlan City Council meeting to address that he and council members have been questioned the past week about Iowa law regarding open meetings and open records relating to “recent events.”
    Gettys was referring to last week’s meeting where the council voted to hire special legal counsel relating to employment law matters.  That action followed an open meeting the week prior where Harlan City Administrator Terry Cox’s expense reports were questioned by the city’s personnel and finance committee.
