Kirkman firefighters gain great satisfaction in helping others

KIRKMAN -- Mike Norris responded to a call on behalf of the Kirkman Fire Department approximately 18 years ago and didn’t expect to have a spiritual experience.
When he arrived at the car accident on a back road, he was notified that one of the individuals in the car was deceased and the other had to be removed from the car after using the Jaws of Life.
Not long after they got to the scene, a little boy and an elderly couple approached the firefighters to get aid for the cut on the little boy’s lip. They didn’t realize there was a third person involved in the crash.
The boy had climbed out of the car and walked down the road for help. He knocked on the couple’s door and they called 911. When asked how he found the nearest house, the boy responded.
“The lady in the pretty white dress took me there,” he said.
Norris and his peers took count for all the people at the scene of the accident and there was no woman in a white dress.
This is one of many experiences Norris and other Kirkman Fire Department members have had in their line of duty.
