HCS, HEA offer initial proposals
HARLAN – The Harlan Education Association and Harlan Community Schools Board of Education met Friday, March 9 to present initial bargaining proposals.
The HEA’s initial bargaining proposal was a $150 increase to base wage as well as natural movement on the salary schedule based on years of service.
The HCS Board’s counter proposal included a $150 increase to base wage and also natural movement on the salary schedule based on years of service.
All future negotiating sessions will be held in exempt session until a mutual agreement is reached.
The district and HEA currently are in the second year of a three-year agreement where salary increases are calculated under a formula that takes into account the amount of state supplemental aid (SSA) dollars received as well as insurance cost increases to the district.
