Grandparents Gifts Foundation builds a legacy

SHELBY -- Peg McCool hoped for the Grandparents Gifts Foundation (GGF) to pass on vessels of memories to the younger generations.
Peg has worked on a project with her husband, Gene McCool, to professionally record a variety of interviews from the older generation to reflect the stories of the past. In order to do this project, she needed to apply for a 501-C3 to gain funds.  The 501-C3 allows an organization to claim non-profit status.
Peg and Gene are two of approximately 20 members in the Grandparents Gifts Foundation.
The group took on a challenge when the Shelby Tennant Consolidated school was planned to be torn down in 2008. Peg explained that the building was a vital part of the community.
