Cruz fires up supporters at Harlan rally

Republican presidential candidate from Texas becoming a frontrunner in Iowa

HARLAN – Republican Presidential Candidate Ted Cruz makes it pretty clear that if elected commander in chief, he’ll have a very busy first day in office.
The senator from Texas has leapt into second place in Iowa this week behind Donald Trump in a poll of likely Republican voters, now ahead of Dr. Ben Carson who has fallen to third.  Cruz brought his message to Harlan last Friday to an enthusiastic crowd of approximately 150 at the American Legion building.
“We’re here today because our country needs us,” said Cruz, who spoke for roughly 45 minutes and was accompanied by supporters U.S. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) and local congressmen Sen. Jason Schultz of Schleswig and Rep. Steve Holt from Denison.
