Crops Doing Well Through Growing Season

REGION -- While the summer started off with heavy rains and many concerns amongst farmers, according to professionals, the weather did not have a long term affect on the growing season.
Mike Witt, Iowa State University Outreach and Extension crop specialist, explains that crops are moving into some of its final stages of development, but farmers should be looking out for grasshoppers and beetles.
However, the primary issue earlier this season was the extensive rain which affected planting season. Harry Hillaker, state climatologist, believes that crops were planted around the state in a timely manner.
