County proposes $129,000 tax asking increase

COUNTY – Shelby County’s tax asking will increase roughly $129,000 under a budget proposed to be adopted by the Shelby County Board of Supervisors today, Tuesday, Feb. 9.
A hearing on the 2016-17 county budget will be held at 9 a.m. in the supervisors’ room at the Shelby County courthouse.  The increase in tax asking dollars is being utilized in the general fund, rural fund and secondary road fund, said county auditor Marsha Carter.
“The general fund added $150,000 to slow the process of deficit spending,” she said, “and in the rural fund we added $100,000 to take care of additional rock needed for the roads.”
