Amazing story as bird becomes trapped behind vehicle’s grill

    HARLAN -- Check out this story complete with a happy ending for a red-tailed hawk that survived being hit by a vehicle, and then traveled inside the grill of the truck across western Iowa.
    Shown  is Kevin “Hoss” Krohn, Harlan Parks and Recreation Director, pulling a hawk from the front grill of a truck parked on 7th Street on Thursday, June 16. Driver Gene Hansen, Walnut, hit the bird with his vehicle near Bayard. It is suspected that the bird broke through the front grill and entered before the piece of grill snapped back and trapped the animal.
